Swapz ("we", "our", or "us") is a student-built clothing swap app for UCSD students. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information we collect

• Account info: your first name, UCSD email address, and phone number when you join the waitlist or create an account.
• Listing data: photos, descriptions, sizes, and prices you upload for clothing items.
• Usage data: how you interact with the app — swipes, matches, and messages — to improve the experience.
• Device info: basic device type and OS version for troubleshooting and analytics.

How we use your information

• To operate the Swapz platform and facilitate clothing swaps between students.
• To send you waitlist updates and launch notifications (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• To verify you are a UCSD student via your @ucsd.edu email address.
• To improve app features and fix bugs based on usage patterns.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except:

• Service providers that help us operate Swapz (e.g. cloud hosting, email delivery) — bound by confidentiality agreements.
• When required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Your listing photos

Photos you upload are visible to other verified UCSD students on the platform. Do not upload photos containing personal information you would not want other students to see.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Waitlist data is deleted within 90 days of the app launch. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Swapz grows. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
